When it comes to security and comfort, nothing beats an all chain anchor rode.
Anchors set faster, deeper and the chain's weight acts as a shock absorber should the wind decide to gust through the anchorage.
The trade off comes in the form of noise and stress that the windlass suffers from the forces that are exerted when the boat moves with the waves.
In order to protect your windlass, the use of a snubber is highly recommended.
The elasticity of the snubber's rope relieves the tension by allowing the pulling forces of your anchor to be diminished and then be directed to a large cleat or Samson post rather than your windlass' gears and shafts.
Built of 316 Stainless Steel, these Chain Claws provide a secure grip and look great.
SNUBBERS have one line attached to the claw, while BRIDLES have 2 lines individually spliced.
Available models to fit chains sizes from 5/16" (8mm) to 1"(22mm).

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Attach the SNUBBER or BRIDLE to the chain
2. Secure the line(s) to a cleat(s) or post(s) on the bow, leaving a loose section of chain.
3. The tension will be absorbed by the flexible nylon line, stress at the windlass will be avoided.
4.Chain will no longer make noise, and in the case of multi-hulls, the boat will no longer sail around the anchor.
Most of our snubber lines are 20 ft. long, special lengths can be custom ordered. |
