SHAFT DRIVE PROTECTORS INSTALLATION GUIDE

Parts Identification:

STRIPPER COMPONENTS

Ensure that the adequate gap exists between the propeller and stern gear.
Refer to the Selection Table on the "Shaftdrive" page. If insufficient space exists, A shaft spacer may be fitted.
Step 1
1.Verify Gap
Fit the two plastic bearings over the shaft by flexing as shown in the photograph. Step 2
2. Fit Bearings

Ensure that the bearings are fitted so that the sides with the locating pips face each other.
(i.e. flat surfaces facing outwards).
Step 3

Separate the two halves of the fixed cutter by sliding them apart and re-assemble on the prop shaft with the "V" shaped tongue facing the stern gear. Step 4.
3. Insert Fixed Cutter
Slide the bearings onto the fixed cutter ensuring that the locating pips on the bearings fit into the hole in the face of fixed cutter. Step 5.
Separate the two halves of the rotary cutter assembly and position them around the prop shaft.
Slide the fixed cutter assembly into position on the rotary cutter boss. Insert the two retaining screws but do not tighten.
Step 6
4. Insert Rotary Cutter
Fit the clamp rings onto the boss of the rotary cutter with the recess facing the stern gear. Step 7.
5. Insert Clamp Rings
Ensure that the joint of the clamp rings is at 90 degrees to the joint of the rotary cutter. Insert clamping screws but do not tighten. Align the rotary cutter blades so that each blade is positioned centrally behind a propeller blade. Step 8.
6. Align Cutters with Prop
Locate the striker plate on the stern gear so that the tongue of the fixed cutter is positioned approximately half way into the "V" slot of the striker plate.

Mark the position of the center retaining screw hole into the stern gear ( Strut).
Step 9.
7. Position Stricker Plate
Drill and tap the hole for the center retaining screw using a 6.8 mm drill bit anf a M8 tap. Step 10.
8. Drill and Tap
Fix the striker plate to the stern gear with an M8 socket head crew and spring washer. Step 11
Using the holes in the striker plate as a guide, drill and tap the remaining two holes and insert the remaining two M8 socket head screws and spring washers. Step 12.
9. Fix Stricker Plate
