This grip, attached to the bosuns chair via a safety lanyard acts as a emergency brake stopping the descent should the line be accidentally released.A block (2), connected to the bosuns chair or harness provides a 2:1 mechanical advantage, it makes climbing the mast a simple and effortless operation.
